Kay Bojesen was born in 1886 and graduated as a professional silversmith in 1910 after completing his apprenticeship with Georg Jensen. It was the birth of his son Otto that inspired his wonderful wooden toy animal collection. His idea was not to produce lifelike copies of real animals, but instead to create imaginative toys that were simple, solid and inspirational - toys that would last a lifetime and appeal to adults and children alike! Today the designer’s grandchildren closely guard the important design heritage that Kay Bojesen left behind and have chosen The Rosendahl Group to develop, manufacture and distribute their grandfather's designs. Adults can enjoy the Kay Bojesen wooden toys by using them as ornaments to decorative bookcases and shelves.
