Designed in Copenhagen in 1974 by Danish‑Canadian designer Niels Bendtsen, the Limit Lounge Chair is a masterclass in logical, material‑driven design. Bendtsen grew up in his father’s furniture factory, learning early on that good design begins with understanding how things are made. That foundation shaped his philosophy: a chair must function, make structural sense, and be producible — aesthetics follow naturally from that logic. Limit embodies this belief completely.
Created during the oil crisis, the chair was born from necessity. Working within strict material constraints, Bendtsen transformed limitation into clarity: two steel rails support a padded textile cover that provides both structure and comfort, eliminating the need for foam or unnecessary components. The cover can be replaced easily, extending the life of the chair and reinforcing its resourceful construction. Lightweight, knock‑down and remarkably material‑efficient, Limit is a study in reduction — a design that feels as relevant today as it did at its inception. Its ingenuity earned it a place in the permanent collection of MoMA in New York.
This reissue by Normann Copenhagen stays true to Bendtsen’s original ethos while introducing contemporary materials. Upholstered in Kvadrat Remix, a refined wool blend celebrated for its durability and tactile richness, the padded cover is suspended over a black powder‑coated steel frame, creating a distinctive silhouette with exceptional comfort. Optional connectors allow multiple chairs to be linked seamlessly, making Limit ideal for lounges, waiting areas and flexible public spaces.

UNDELIVERABLE ORDERS
If an order is returned to us because it is undeliverable due to an incorrect delivery address, or if it is not collected from a courier pick‑up point and subsequently returned, we will refund the cost of the items minus any delivery charges paid.
Please note, we cannot accept responsibility if you choose to change the delivery address or request for your parcel to be left in a safe place after despatch.
