A bold reimagining of Alessandro Mendini’s iconic corkscrew, Liquid channels the visual language of urban cryptography through the lens of Studio Temp’s graphic experimentation. This edition is a luminous ode to the unseen—its phosphorescent skeleton, revealed only in darkness, evokes the spectral precision of X-ray imagery.
Crafted from AlkiPaper®—a patented biocomposite derived from paper and natural raw materials—paired with chrome-plated zamak, the corkscrew is both tactile and technically refined. The surface design is a layered collage of street signage, digital motifs and cryptic symbols, reflecting the designers’ fascination with contemporary visual codes and data protection aesthetics.
The colour palette draws inspiration from Japanese model kit decals, cult artefacts of late ’90s youth culture, lending Alessandro M. a nostalgic yet futuristic edge. In low light, the phosphorescent pigment animates the form with a ghostly glow, transforming the object into a graphic apparition.
