The Umage Faraday Up is a versatile lighting piece designed for both wall and ceiling mounting, offering sculptural elegance and ambient illumination in one refined form. Created by designer Jonas Søndergaard, it draws inspiration from British scientist Michael Faraday’s discoveries in electromagnetism, transforming scientific principles into poetic design.
A fine metal mesh surrounds the opal glass globe, diffusing the light into a soft, glare-free glow while casting subtle patterns onto nearby surfaces. Whether placed on a gallery wall, hallway or ceiling, Faraday Up adds atmosphere and artistic impact to any space, making it equally suited to private homes and hospitality interiors.
“Inspired by the British scientist Michael Faraday and his discoveries within electromagnetism, the steel shield of the Faraday lampshade captures the light of the opal glass globe perfectly and creates a mesmerizing and ambient light.”
— Jonas Søndergaard, Designer
Available in brass or steel finishes, Faraday Up complements a range of interiors with its timeless materiality. A matching Faraday Pendant Light is also available, offering a cohesive lighting solution across ceiling and wall applications.
